Chaplet of the Sacred Heart
5x6+3+6=39 beads
The chaplet is composed of a medal of the Sacred Heart, and thirty nine beads, six of which are large, and thirty three small. The small beads represent the thirty three years of the mortal life of our Lord. The first thirty recall to mind the years of His private life, and are divided into five groups of six; the three on the pendant recall the public life of the Savior.
To pray this chaplet start on the medal and recite the Anima Christi:
Chaplet of the Sacred Heart
Soul of Christ, be my sanctification
Body of Christ, be my salvation
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins
Water from Christ's side, wash out my stains
Passion of Christ, my comfort be
O good Jesus, listen to me
In Thy wounds I fain would hide
Ne'er to be parted from Thy side
Guard me should the foe assail me
Call me when my life shall fail me
Bid me come to Thee above
With Thy saints to sing Thy love
World without end. Amen.
On each large bead pray: (a, b, c, d, e, f)
"Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine."
On each small beads: (a1, a2, a3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
"Sweet Heart of Jesus, be Thou my love!"
At the end of each group of six, say:
" Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation!"
At the conclusion, say:
"Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised, glorified, loved and preserved throughout the world now and forever more.
